It does not determine whether wood, adhesive, underlayment, tile, subfloor, concrete, or wall material can be dried or must be replaced. Restoration, environmental, structural, and finish decisions require their appropriate qualified scopes after the water source is controlled.

A floor may look only slightly damp while water reaches a ceiling or commercial space below. Coordinated fixture tests can identify the event before more finish is removed.
